What makes a great school bag rack?

With the influx of students for a new school year it is often apparent that certain areas of the school would benefit from more organisational space. This could be items such as hooks, shelves and bag racks. If you are thinking about investing in bag racks, consider what features are important for your school bag rack so it does its job well and remains a great asset to the school for many years to come.

7 features essential for school bag racks

Durable: A school bag rack should be both sturdy and durable. With school bags often packed with books, laptops and sports equipment they can weigh far more than the average bag, so school bag racks need to be able to cope with the combined weight of many school bags.

Weather-resistant: If school bag racks are to be situated outdoors they have to be able to cope with the weather and not rust in the rain or warp or fade or deteriorate in the heat of the sun. Aluminium is the ideal material for school bag racks as it is very strong but lightweight and it is incredibly long-lasting. It’s non-corrosive properties mean it can be left outside without any deterioration in quality or condition.

Easy-to-use: Bag racks need to be quick and easy to use. Students are often moving rapidly between classes and events and bag racks should be convenient so students can easily add and remove bags as they traverse through the school. An important consideration of this is ensuring bags are the correct height for students. Bag racks that are too high or too tall for some students are a safety hazard with the potential of bags falling on top of students or the racks themselves toppling over as students try and remove bags from racks that are way above their height.

Organisational space: Bag racks should provide a spacious solution, offering a suitable size between shelves so that bags fit neatly without being crammed into too small an area, whilst still maximising the available space by having as many bags into the area as possible.

Safety: In terms of safety, having patented safety end caps offer a protective end to bag racks and prevent unwanted scratches and scrapes from rack ends, providing an added layer of safety.

Cost-effective: School bag racks should offer a cost-effective solution. Cheap low quality bag racks may seem like a good initial solution but rusting, rotting and breakage mean they end up costing more over time as they will need to be quickly replaced with stronger and more durable alternatives.
Multi-purpose: The ideal school bag rack can be used inside and outside school areas. They work seamlessly outside classrooms in the playground or as storage in eating areas, halls or as required near school collection areas.

Where should school bag racks be positioned?
There are a number of popular places for school bag racks, but their positioning should be both convenient and accessible and not impede the throughflow of students and teachers through the school grounds. Common places for school bag racks include outside of classrooms, in corridors, colas, playground and outdoor areas.
Benefits of school bag racks

Students and teachers can benefit greatly from having quality school bag racks. Students can easily store their bags, which no longer are on the floor and are easily accessible so they can add and remove school bags as they require. The school looks neater and more organised and trip and fire hazards are eliminated.
