Celebrate Parks Week 2026
Parks Week is back and it’s our annual reminder that some of life’s best moments happen outdoors.
From morning walks and weekend sport to family picnics and community events, our parks are where connection happens naturally. They are the backdrop to everyday rituals and spontaneous catch-ups, the places where communities come to life.
This year, it’s all about reconnecting with place and noticing the spaces that bring people together while making the most of them.
Your Local Oasis
From 2 to 8 March 2026, Parks and Leisure Australia alongside Recreation Aotearoa will once again celebrate the vital role parks and green spaces play across Australia and New Zealand. Parks are not just patches of grass. They support wellbeing, encourage movement, foster belonging and provide accessible spaces for all ages and abilities. They are essential social infrastructure. This week shines a spotlight on the value they bring to our daily lives, physically, socially and environmentally.
Spaces That Bring Us Together
This year, the focus shifts from unplugging to gathering. Parks are more than places to pass through. They are places to pause, to sit, to talk, to share a meal and to watch the kids play. Whether it is a community fitness class, an outdoor movie night, a cultural celebration or simply a quiet conversation on a bench, these spaces shape stronger neighbourhoods. How will you use your local park this week?
Get Involved
Check your local council for upcoming Parks Week events or create your own reason to gather.
Think:
- A neighbourhood morning tea
- A pop-up picnic
- A walking group
- A community BBQ
- Outdoor storytime or music sessions
Big or small, every moment outdoors contributes to a healthier, more connected community.
Designed for Park Life
Well-designed furniture helps parks work harder for communities. The Ribbon range, including the Ribbon Bench Seat with Backrest, Ribbon Bin Enclosure and Ribbon Outdoor Setting, delivers comfort, durability and contemporary style, creating inviting spaces people want to use. For projects with sustainability front of mind, the Peak In-Ground Bench Seat with Backrest and Peak In-Ground Picnic Table are crafted from a blend of recycled plastic and timber. Built for Australia’s harsh climate, they are UV stabilised, low maintenance and made to last, supporting greener community spaces long into the future.
When seating is comfortable and thoughtfully placed, people stay longer. Conversations last longer. Communities grow stronger.
The Bigger Picture
Parks Week is more than a celebration. It is a reminder of what thoughtful outdoor spaces can achieve.
Places to rest and reconnect with nature.
Places to gather and celebrate.
Places where community comes to life.
Let’s continue creating outdoor environments that invite people in and keep them coming back.
