Firth Park Sporting Complex
Felton at Firth Park Sporting Complex with the Hinterland District Netball Association
Felton Industries recently partnered with JMAC Industrial & Access Group Ltd to deliver spectator seating as part of the major precinct upgrade at Firth Park, Queensland. The project transformed 17 old, tired netball courts under outdated lighting into 24 brand-new courts, complete with state-of-the-art lighting, shading, seating and painting, a redevelopment years in the making.
As part of this precinct-wide upgrade, Felton was brought on board to supply grandstands built to last, giving the community a seating solution with genuine longevity.
Project Requirements
With 24 new courts to service, the precinct needed spectator seating that could provide shelter, comfort and inclusivity across the board. Sun safety was a priority, given the outdoor nature of netball and Queensland’s climate. Accessibility was also essential, with a requirement for genuinely inclusive seating for wheelchair-using spectators, not an afterthought but built into the design, in line with DDA compliance across the site. And as with any outdoor sporting venue, durability against the elements was critical, with all seating required to meet Australian Standards and serve the community for years to come.
Project Solution
To meet these requirements, Felton Industries supplied 24 Sunsafe Sheltered Grandstands, each four meters in length with four tiers of seating. The grandstands were customised with a Cool Max roofing option, improving reflectiveness by 77% and helping keep spectators cooler in the heat.
Every grandstand was also customised with a dedicated wheelchair spot, wide enough for a wheelchair user to comfortably reverse into position. Rather than being positioned off to the side, this spot sits within the grandstand itself, allowing wheelchair-using spectators to sit among the crowd and be part of the action alongside everyone else.
Built to withstand the demands of an outdoor sport played in all conditions, the grandstands give players, spectators and families a safer, more inviting place to gather, delivered as part of a wider precinct upgrade that remained accessible to the local sporting community throughout construction.
Result
“Having Felton Industries come on board to supply these grandstands, and knowing they’ll have longevity over the years, has been absolutely amazing. We’re very lucky to have Felton on board. Being able to have equipment that withstands all those weather conditions is second to none, and it provides safer, more inviting places for our players and spectators. It’s all about building communities, having spectators here, able to sit together, chat to other parents, and enjoy the new ambience of the precinct.”

The installation of Felton’s Sunsafe Sheltered Grandstands across all 24 courts has given Firth Park a consistent, welcoming standard of spectator seating precinct-wide. Families and community members now have comfortable, shaded places to watch games and socialise, while the inclusive wheelchair spaces ensure every spectator can be part of the game-day experience.
By partnering closely with Gold Coast City Council, Felton Industries delivered a practical, inclusive and community-focused seating solution as part of one of Queensland’s most significant netball precinct upgrades.
