Phil Guy Building was engaged by Shoalhaven Heads Bowling Club to supply and install sheltered seating for players and spectators across their bowling greens. The club is well regarded for having some of the best greens in the region, catering to everyone from casual barefoot bowlers through to competitive players.
Project Requirements
Shoalhaven Heads Bowling Club required sheltered seating that would allow players and spectators to comfortably sit, watch games, and socialise while being protected from the sun during warmer conditions. With members of all ages using the facilities, the seating needed to be accessible, comfortable, and safe for both younger and older patrons.
The shelters were to be positioned between two bowling greens, which meant the overall width and layout needed to be carefully considered. The club also required the seating to be installed before the Christmas period.
Project Solution
Working closely with Phil Guy Building, and leveraging their strong relationship with the club, Felton delivered a customised sheltered bench seating solution tailored to the site’s specific requirements.
The shelters were designed with:
- A compact width to fit neatly between the two bowling greens
- Seating at an appropriate height to assist elderly patrons when standing
- End rails for added support and safety
- Customised roof and frame colours to integrate seamlessly with the existing club environment
- A total of 14 customised shelters were manufactured and scheduled for delivery within the required timeframe.
Result
Despite the tight deadline, Felton successfully manufactured and delivered all 14 customised shelters to site in the first week of December 2025, exceeding the project expectations and ensuring installation was completed ahead of Christmas.
The sheltered bench seating now sits perfectly between the greens, providing ample space for easy movement while offering comfortable, shaded viewing areas for players and spectators. The customised colours helped the shelters blend naturally into the existing club setting, enhancing both functionality and visual appeal.
The project was delivered on time and within scope, resulting in a practical, durable, and well-integrated seating solution that supports the club’s ongoing use and community engagement.
