Stylish, colourful play area at Nicholson Primary School

AOA Christopher Peck are an established architectural firm located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. Highly regarded for their commitment to innovative, creative design, they specialise in producing inspiring spaces in schools as one of their core focus areas. Recently they were tasked with a project to develop an outdoor play area at Nicholson Primary School, a rural school close to the picturesque Nicholson river in Victoria. They contacted Felton Industries to see how they could assist in providing external seating suitable for this high usage area.

The Project
Nicholson Primary’s outdoor areas were already blessed with a number of established trees and the project involved putting together a plan that would best utilise the outdoor area whilst maintaining the beautiful natural aesthetics. In the backdrop of the school yard was a colourful playground, that seating would frame. With this in mind, Felton worked with AOA to propose a selection of outdoor furniture that would captivate this space.

Solution
Firstly to fit around the existing trees, Felton recommended their colourful horseshoe and snake bench seat packages as ideal choices. The packages included Ezyseat bench seats with a choice of coloured safety end caps to ensure no sharp edges and bright connectors to join bench seats together. For seating alongside the play area, the In-ground Bench Seat with Backrest and leg supports powder-coated in yellow offered a comfortable robust seating space. Whilst for the undercover areas in the school yard, which required space-saving tables and chairs, Felton recommended their popular Pedestal Park Settings. Seating up to 8 and available in a choice of 6 stunning colours, the Pedestal Park settings encourage interaction and their bright colours worked beautifully with the surrounding playground, trees and bench seating.
