When the Western Australian Government approved funding to develop basketball and football facilities to augment HBF Arena, the Wanneroo Basketball Association found themselves moving into a brand new home with world-class facilities. As with any new home, choosing the right furniture is essential in creating an environment that is stylish, comfortable and perfectly suited to your particular needs.

In this case, seating was needed for both indoor and outdoor use and included corporate box and game staff seating. Indoor bench seating needed to be lightweight, yet strong, making it both easy to relocate and extremely durable. Free Standing Bench Seats with backrests were the ideal choice in this situation and the purchase of four Select Grandstands which seat up to 40 people provided ample spectator seating. One of the most important considerations was to keep the new flooring in top shape and ensure that moving the new benches wouldn’t cause scratching. Outdoor seating had to withstand whatever the weather might throw at it and be bolted down for stability and security. Meanwhile, ergonomic comfort and cost-effectiveness were top priorities in every application.

Working in close co-operation with Wanneroo Basketball association CEO, Mr Cameron Britt, Felton Industries developed a tailored solution to meet the association’s diverse requirements. The use of premium, Australian aluminium for all pieces guaranteed lightness and ease of movement along with long-term, all-weather durability. Grandstands were built in modular units for easy management and to allow for great flexibility. Specially designed curved backrests combined with safety support bars and spacious foot wells delivered the perfect balance of comfort and convenience. To preserve the all-important playing surface, every seat was capped with rubber end fittings to eliminate the possibility of gouging. Unique to Felton Industries products, every seat was fitted with Patented Safety End Caps, which surpass the industry standard and ensure no exposed or sharp edges reducing the risk of injury or clothing tears.

We’re thrilled to say that all parties are very happy with the outcome. According to Mr Britt, “We chose Felton Industries to supply our temporary grandstands and spectator bench seating. We are very satisfied with the products and service and our members are impressed”. Further evidence of a job well done came when Venues West, the government agency that manages the new facilities, contacted Felton Industries to order additional Change Room Seating and more Free Standing Bench Seats with Backrests.
